Etty Bay

15 minutes south of Innisfail a gorgeous white sand beach looks out from the surrounding rainforest over a small hidden bay. Behind the beach there are just a few houses, a cafe, a caravan park and, unusually for such a tiny out-of-the-way place, a surf life-saving club which was founded in 1935. The beach is only patrolled on Sundays by members of the club but a swimming net (for safe swimming) is maintained throughout the summer months when jellyfish can be active.

Etty Bay is one of the prettiest beaches in North Qeensland and is very popular with locals at the weekend.

If you prefer the unusal, Etty Bay is an escape artist's dream retreat.  Make it your base to stay for a few days if you are exploring the Palmerston/Innisfail/Mission Beach/Tully area.

Best place to stay is The Old Pottery which is just beyond the caravan park on the ridge overlooking the second beach.

It's also a great place to see a Cassowary as they are frequent visitors to Etty Bay and are often seen walking along the beach.
