Smithfield is 13km north of Cairns at the foot of the Kuranda Range where the road splits from the northern beaches to ascend the range to Kuranda and the tablelands. Its a great location from which to adventure in Far North Queensland - you can swim at any of the beaches between Cairns and Palm Cove or venture further along the beautiful coast road to PortDouglas and enjoy your own private beach. Drive up the Kuranda Range to explore the tablelands (or take the Kuranda train), see Lake Tinaroo, check out the amazing museum at the Herberton Historical Village and come back by the waterfall circuit around Millaa Millaa. You can experience much of our tropical north in 5 days.

The kitchen is well equipped - an island bench of polished-stone with a large double sink, a 4 ring gas hob plus a wok burner, a dishwasher and a large fridge. There is an indoor dining table seating eight and a huge comfy sofa in front of the TV. All three bedrooms are air-conditioned and come with insect-screens and ceiling fans..

We recommend Tranquil for all except families with small children - it's right in the forest and does not have an enclosed garden space for keeping an eye on little ones.
