June 2019 Laura Dance Festival now in 2020
The great biennial gathering that is the Laura Dance Festival would normally be held in June or July over 3 days. It does not appear to be happening this year. The website is no longer operating. However, Ang-Gnarra Corporation are now arranging and hosting the festival for 2020. The dates are July 3-4-5.
This is the Corroboree that brings the Cape York communities together in an exciting display of their dancing, mime and songs. An unforgettable link to the thousands of years of indigenous history. A campfire coming together to share the stories and the mystery handed down over the generations.
Don't miss this festival - join the 5000 who come to see the 500 performers. It appears that the festival has been moved forward 1 year to coincide with the 250th anniversary of Lt James Cook's legendary voyage and forced stop-over on the southern bank of the Endeavour River, where Cooktown is today.
