Cairns / The Tanks and Mt Whitfield conservation Park (4.5km)
Next to the Botanic Gardens is The Tanks Arts Centre. These were WWII fuel tanks which have been cleverly converted and now form a fantastic space for exhibitions and concerts. The Tanks are shaded by huge raintrees and the entrance wall to the centre is decorated by the roots of a giant strangler fig. Check the website for exhibitions, concerts, market days and other activities.
Behind The Tanks is the Mt Whitfield Conservation Park. The 1.3km/1hr Red Arrow circuit and 5.4km/4hr Blue Arrow circuit are well marked walks over the range with great views of Trinity Bay and the city.
