Review (Feb 1st 2016 in True Local)
"We recently stayed at 'Beachie' at Bramston Beach. I can't thank Julie enough for making the house so welcoming. It's one of the best holiday houses we've stayed in. This is a real gem of a place, both the house & the area. All the mod cons are provided. I can't imagine why more people don't go there. We had an incredibly relaxing, refreshing break. Which was exactly what we were looking for. Thanks so much for sharing your little bit of paradise! These Kiwis, will be back:-)"

The Beachie, 58 Evans Rd, Bramston Beach
Our favourite beach in North Queensland. A gorgeous 1 hour drive from Cairns through the canefields, passing the coastal range on the left and Queensland's two largest mountains on the right. Close enough to Cairns to be convenient and just far enough to be an escape.
Absolute beachfront - you walk straight onto the beach from the garden.
The Beachie is the lower half of a weekend holiday home owned by a local family. You will always have the property to yourself because the owners will not come down from the Tablelands to stay when The Beachie is booked.
Why do we love Bramston?
It's close to Cairns - just 1 hour through the spectacular landscape of green canefields flanked by the coastal range and the towering 5200' backdrop of Mt Bellenden Ker and Mt Bartle Frere.
Bramston has an ambience that reminds us of childhood holidays without a care in the world. Time stops still and the rush and noise of the city is replaced by the gentle sound of the waves and the rustling of the breeze through the leaves of the melaleucas and casuarinas.
You can forget the mind-numbing conformity of shopping centres because there is just the one cafe/shop for basic supplies. Bring your food and drink with you and replenish in Innisfail or Babinda.
The motel runs a good restaurant which attracts visitors at the weekend, as do the two small caravan parks on the beachfront.
The fishing is good and the swimming is safe - a large stinger net is in place from November to May. The best and most refreshing swimming in the summer months, though, is in the freshwater creeks such as at Josephine Falls and Babinda Boulders.
The absolutely best reason to stay at The Beachie is because it is beachfront. You go to sleep and wake up to the sound of the sea. There is nothing like it. In the evening, at sunset, you wander down to the beach - drink in one hand, snacks in the other - grab a chair and soak it all up. Your neighbours down the beach will be doing the same thing. In the morning, if you want to find a nice shell - first up, first footprints - best shell.
