Being close to the city (as opposed to holidaying on the northern beaches) has many advantages. It is only a $15-18 taxi to the Cairns Esplanade so everyone can go out in the evening and enjoy a few drinks at one of the many restaurants in this popular area. The Esplanade lagoon is a fantastic spot for kids and you can bring a picnic and use the BBQs dotted around the surrounding parkland. The casino and the reef terminal (for all reef excursions) are in this area too.

Palm Tree Cottage is on a quiet leafy side street with easy access to the bye-pass heading to Kuranda and the northern beaches. You have the convenience of your own pool but the beaches are only 20 minutes away and the popular Esplanade lagoon is even closer (less than 10 minutes). A really comfy cottage at a very reasonable price.
